The Blackburn Takeover was a student protest at Howard University in Washington, D.C. that started on October 12, 2021 and ended on November 15, 2021, ousting the poor housing conditions at the campus.
At the peak of the protest, around 150 students erected a tent city outside of the Blackburn University Center, where they slept daily, event demanding an improvement in living conditions.
As a brand rooted in activism, we were honored when the takeover reached out requesting clothes and essentials for the fight.
We happily provided over 100 shirts and umbrellas for students and to quickly move the supplies and ensure safe arrival, we partnered with the NAACP. The precautions were necessary because some relief packages mysteriously vanished and we couldn’t have that happen. We all we got!
